Comprehensive Exams

All of our new patients receive an in-depth comprehensive exam at their first visit. We repeat these exams as necessary, taking the time to get to know you, your mouth, and explain your treatment plans. If you have any significant lifestyle changes or larger health issues that may affect your overall or dental health, please let us know.

X-Rays

Sometimes, you have to go beyond the surface to really get a good look at what’s going on. Our x-ray technology allows our team to diagnose issues that may otherwise remain unknown. We use digital, panoramic, and cone beam 3D x-ray scanners that produce sharp, crystal clear images of your mouth and expose you to less radiation than traditional x-rays. We also use the DIAGNOdent fluorescent laser to identify cavities forming below the surface of the tooth, allowing us to eradicate them before they present a problem.

TMJ Treatment

Suffering from temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder can be incredibly painful. We want to help alleviate the symptoms. We use splint therapy to find the correct jaw position for your mouth, and get you on a path to feeling better, sooner.

Emergency Care

Emergencies happen, and when they do, you shouldn’t have to wait! We want to relieve your pain as soon as possible, which is why we offer same-day appointments to patients with an emergency. If you can’t get in during our regular hours, Dr. Cook will do everything he can to accommodate emergency patients after hours.

Hygiene

Keeping your teeth and gums clean is vital to great oral health. In order to keep your mouth looking and feeling great, we thoroughly clean your teeth, gums, and surrounding areas using Cavitron and Piezo scalers. These ultrasonic scalers remove debris and tartar buildup that can cause decay and infection. Regular hygiene appointments, combined with excellent at-home cleaning habits, ensure your smile is at its best.

Gum Therapy

Your teeth are not the only part of your mouth that require meticulous care. Gum disease causes more adult tooth loss than most other oral diseases, so prevention is key. If Signature Smiles sees any sign of gum disease, we will thoroughly clean the gum pockets and apply ARESTIN, a topical, microsphere antibiotic that stays under the gums for up to 21 days. When caught early, we can reverse and even heal your gum disease without surgery.

Mouthguards

Patients who suffer from nighttime grinding, or bruxism, will find relief in one of our custom-fitted mouthguards. These mouthguards can prevent excess wear and damage caused by grinding your teeth while you sleep. We also offer children’s athletic mouthguards! Ask us if a mouthguard can help save your teeth.

Anesthesia

Your comfort is important. When a treatment requires anesthesia, rest assured that you’re in great hands. For more information, visit our Sedation Dentistry page.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Even if you avoid any behavior that increases the risk of developing oral cancer, such as smoking or excessive alcohol consumption, you may still be prone to developing it. Early detection of the disease can be lifesaving and is essential to determine the best course of treatment. In our office, we use visual and manual screening techniques to check your mouth, cheeks, and gums for abnormal tissue or other causes for concern.

Fluoride Treatments

We use a fluoride varnish, which is a concentrated treatment that stays on your tooth’s surface longer than traditional fluoride therapies. We recommend this treatment for adults when needed and children at every visit. It is especially helpful for patients experiencing sensitivity or who are highly susceptible to decay. Fluoride restores essential minerals to the tooth’s enamel protecting it from decay.

Technology

From computerized treatment rooms to specialized equipment, we believe technology plays an important role in maintaining a healthy mouth. We combine technology and education with the CAESY Patient Education system, so you can make informed choices about your care. We even use intraoral cameras and microscopes to get in-depth views of what’s really going on inside your mouth. And, our soft tissue lasers make performing procedures such as healing cold sore lesions easy and more comfortable.
